April Powers: April Powers has spent her professional career helping organizations manage differences through training, recruiting, and diversity & inclusion strategy.A Los Angeles native who is the great-granddaughter of Jews who fled pogroms in eastern Europe and Black survivors of chattel slavery in the US, April is a proud board member of Progressive Zionists of California and her local synagogue. She co-launched Jewbian Princess to increase belonging for all in Jewish communal spaces. After experiencing extreme online antisemitism, April joined Project Shema to do her part to ensure that antisemitism education is folded into robust DEI programs. Read April's full bio here.
Kiyomi Kowalski: Kiyomi Kowalski is a mom, Marine Corps veteran, an anti-racism educator, and a social justice advocate. In 2021, Kiyomi was a Uri L’Tzedek Torah In Action Summer Fellow and a Bend The Arc Selah Leadership Program Fellow. Additionally, she is a 2022 Jewtina y Co. PUENTES Leadership and Resiliency Fellow. She served on the Board of Jewish Education at Valley Outreach Synagogue in Calabasas where she created and chaired the Social Justice Collective and Anti-racism Task Force. Kiyomi specializes in anti-Black racism and is dedicated to combatting antisemitism. She is particularly focused on productive dialogue that moves people to action.
